“Toyama International Glass Exhibition (TIGE) is an international, open-submission triennial that showcases the outstanding works of contemporary glass art from around the world. Launched in 2018, the second of these competitions was held in 2021 and attracted 1,126 entries from 51 countries and regions throughout the world. TIGE 2024 will be the third.
Contemporary glass art, in which art is used as a material for artistic expression, grew out of new art movements in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and the United States in the 1960s. Since 2000, the world has seen a rapid diversification in the expression of plastic arts, and it has become a fascinating field of art with unlimited possibilities.

This exhibition will showcase new perspectives in this form of artistic expression and offer a new opportunity to establish Toyama, the Glass Art City, as a global center for glass art.”
