Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do you pronounce your last name?
It rhymes with "kiln." Now how appropriate is that!
-
What do you like about glass?
I like glass because it can take on an infinite number of forms and
textures. It can show an interior image and an exterior image
simultaneously. It's translucent and transparent. It plays with
light.
-
What's the difference between hot-cast and kiln-cast glass?
Hot cast glass is molten glass (2,200°F) ladled out of a
furnace and poured into a mold. Kiln cast glass is slowly heated
in a kiln to 1,450-1,650°F and slowly left to drizzle into a
mold. For both processes, the molds are usually used only once.
-
Can you describe the process?
The fabrication process for Operation Moving Forward is described here.
-
Are you any relation to A. A. Milne?
Do you mean Alan Alexander Milne (January 18, 1882 -
January 31, 1956), the British author best known for his books
about the talking stuffed bear, Winnie-the-Pooh?
Unfortunately, no relation. Although my middle
initial is also A and I'm from Canada and sometimes you'll
still catch me saying A, eh?
-
Do you work on commission?
Usually not.
-
Where can I see your art?
